Chat privacy

A few questions about privacy come up around the chat panel and the Telegram channel.

On the family page chat panel

The chat panel on your family page is read-only and shows posts from the channel. Anyone in any family in the calendar can read it. So if you tap “Out sick” via quick messages, it shows on every family’s chat panel for that calendar.

If you’d rather keep something private — health issues, family stuff — don’t put it in a quick message or post to the channel. Text the coach directly.

In the Telegram channel

When you join the channel (see Joining the Telegram channel):

  • Your display name (as set in your Telegram profile) is visible to channel admins (coaches).
  • Your phone number is NOT visible to other channel members or admins, unless you’ve manually shared it.
  • Other parents don’t see anything about you — the channel is admin-broadcast, so they only see the coach’s posts.

You can control your display name in Telegram’s Settings → Edit Profile.

What the app collects about your family

  • Your slug (e.g. smiths).
  • Your athletes’ names and the groups they’re in.
  • Each parent contact’s name + email/phone.
  • Your RSVP history for events.
  • Your quick-message history (e.g. “Out sick”).
  • The push-notification subscriptions you’ve enabled per device.

No payment info. No social-media handles. No tracking pixels.
